moodle.episd.org allows guest access to a few courses, but not many. TCEA on the other hand is trying to promote the use of Moodle - check out http://etmp.esc7.net/area15/ for Moodle resources - there are even Open Source ones... Ken Task is behind a big part of this effort...

Hi, I am trying to learn how to use the Moodle to design the online course, but there are so many downloads, which one should I download and what are the steps to proceed? Can somebody lead me to get started? Thank you.

I teach 8th grade computer literacy classes. I started using Moodle for 2 reasons: One to give students a way to turn in their assignments and second, to give them the experience of an "online class". It has turned out to be an excellent tool for the class overall. Students not only can upload their assignments, they can collaborate using the messaging capability, see their grades, view comments on their assignments, post forums, contribute to the class glossary, etc. I haven't used the quiz feature yet because I use another online quiz creator. I plan to expand in the coming year to include the quizzes and lessons for the students. We run Moodle on our local school server and I would like to see the class available online for students to use from home. Of course I will have to wait for the "powers that be" to allow that to happen. Students adapted easily to the Moodle interface and have developed an acceptable comfort level that will benefit them in the future with online classes.
